Being Jesus’ Disciple

The kingdom

“And my spirit became at last satisfied as to these things of government, discipline, and constitution of churches, upon this ground :- That for many ages now past, the truths of Christ, not only of government, but of the church itself, as to its external and formal way of constitution, having been given over into the hands of antichrist, we have been much in the dark, and are to this day but beginning to break through the clouds, which Christ with the brightness of His coming (whereby He is said to destroy the antichrist) is about to dispel.”

I came across the above quote from the diary of Alexander Jaffray in late 1992 shortly before the Holy Spirit revealed to those of us who were seeking God as to what was wrong with the church, that God was then beginning to separate the Bride from the Harlot, with whom she had been mixed for 2000 years; a ‘vision’ and ‘revelation’ which also became our experience.

Alexander Jaffray was Provost of Aberdeen, one of the Scottish Commissioners to King Charles II and a Member of Parliament in his day, who was one of the earliest members of the people called ‘Quakers’ in Scotland. In his diary he shares about the revelation he and others received in the 17th Century, that most of that which went by the name of ‘church’ had in fact been given over to the spirit of antichrist. 

The spirit of antichrist had produced a false form of Christianity despite the true church, the body of Christ, still being found in the midst of the growing apostasy. Seemingly mixed together, tares were found amongst wheat, and wheat amongst tares. What Jesus prophesied would be the reality of the church age until the end of the age and the time of the final harvest was beginning to be understood along with the ongoing Spirit-given desire to come out unto the Lord.

The Light of Christ had begun to restore truths to the church in earlier centuries in Europe, causing the church to come out of the dark ages, the darkness that had slowly enveloped the church in her first beginnings as the spirits of antichrist took the infant church deeper and deeper into apostasy. Church history tells us how Truth began to be recovered to the true church in stages, a restoration that continues to this day. The separation of wheat from amongst the tares is still in progress, a separation that only comes as individual believers break free from the works of the flesh and walk by the Spirit. 

The spirit of antichrist is still not discerned by many, however, those still within that which is thought of as ‘church’ but in reality are organisations of men. Many still need to come out and be separate from the mixture created by this religious spirit; not only coming out of this mixture but coming out unto the Lord Jesus Christ as their one and only Master, to live and walk with Him as His true disciple.

Being A Disciple

Unlike being born again, to be a disciple of Jesus there is a condition - an ‘if’. By grace we are saved, through faith, and not of ourselves; it is a gift of God, and not by works that anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9) But regarding being a disciple Jesus said, “You cannot be My disciple, unless you love me more than you love your father and mother, your wife and children, and your brothers and sisters. You cannot come with Me unless you love Me more than you love your own life.” (Luke 14:26)

Just as we cannot ‘see’ or ‘enter’ the Kingdom of God unless we are born again (see John 3:3-5) so it is that we are called by the Spirit once we are born again spiritually, to be separate.

This consecration, however, cannot be achieved by works. It is by faith, knowing we are already crucified with Christ.

Separated Unto God

It has aways been the call of the Spirit to come out and be separate, of course.

Paul wrote, “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

‘I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.’

Therefore

‘Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you. I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
 Says the Lord Almighty.’” (2 Corinthians 6:14-18)

The spirit of antichrist began to deceive the true church from the time of her first beginnings, deceiving believers into compromise and a walk of the flesh rather than walking by the Spirit.

Again, it is a matter of Church history that in every move of God, men not knowing any better would take from the hands of the Holy Spirit that which He was doing to bring forth sons of God walking in the their true sonship. So it is all creation is still waiting for the revealing of the sons of God.

Although believers of the 17th Century were beginning to understand something of this battle for true freedom in Christ, Satan was still able to turn what was of God at that time into yet another man-made church system - Quakerism. When God moved a century later Methodism resulted. Every time a truth has been restored to the church men would organise and create a house that no longer had Jesus at its head. Men would turn truth into creeds which in turn they made into law to be walked in by works of the flesh.

This reality is spoken of elsewhere in this website and much more detail is given explaining how in 1992 God spoke to us that this separation of Harlot and Bride was beginning.

In 2013 the Holy Spirit explained the nature of the feasts and declared that “Pentecost was over!” 

The church had been birthed in Pentecost, a feast celebrated with its mixture of leaven, that represents sin and the works of the flesh. The Spirit was saying that the time of mixture was over, declaring that we are now in the feast of Trumpets which sounds a warning whilst speaking of what lies ahead - the feast of Fulness, the feast of Tabernacles. At the time of writing, in 2018, this trumpet sound continues to sound. 

However, whilst most of the true church may still continue to be found within the denominations of man, a separation can be seen affecting the tares, those who are part of the growing apostasy that denies the blood bought truths that saw the true church beginning to break free, particularly in England, from the time of the martyrs of the 13th - 17th Century. The darkness is becoming more and more evident in that which goes by the name of ‘church’ The tares are already being gathered into bundles to be burnt! 

The call to “Come out of her My People” still needs to be heard by many who belong to the Lord Jesus Christ but who are still held captive within Babylon. The true sons of the Kingdom need to be set fully free.

But who has ears to hear what the Spirit is saying? What will it take for the deaf to hear?

May we not be found thinking in our hearts, “I am rich and have become wealthy and have need of nothing,” and not realise that in fact “we are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked."

Jesus is still saying to His true church, those who think He is in their midst, but in reality He is outside knocking on the door of their hearts, “Buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.” (Revelation 3:17-19)

The gold speaks of faith, the white garments, His righteousness, and the eye salve, the ability to see spiritually by the Spirit.

It is time to hear Jesus voice for ourselves and recognise the Spirit’s anointing within us, that is if we are truly His, that Jesus, by His Spirit, might be our Teacher and we might be His disciple. That we might be led into all Truth and follow Him.

However, it comes with a price - abandoning our ‘all’ to Jesus as our Lord and King.
